Hey, you – let go now
I see you. I know you because I’ve been in that place. I know that weight, that thing that’s pressing in, pulling you down – you know, that thing you never saw coming? The unexpected blow you took that sent you reeling, the one that’s keeping you awake at night? I know that, too.
Maybe you’re fretting, agonizing over your past mistakes. You’re reliving old failures, seeing them again in living color and writhing in the agony of regret and “should have’s.”
It’s time to stop that. Listen: “Man is so made that he can carry the weight of 24 hours – no more. Directly (as) he weighs down with the years behind and the days ahead, his back breaks. I have promised to help you with the burden of today only. The past I have taken from you and if you choose to gather again that burden and bear it, then, indeed, you mock Me to expect Me to share it.”– God Calling
And for today, this 24 hours you have right now? This very moment, the only one any of us really have? The Psalmist knew what to do with the burden of the hour, and in his own extremity, he penned these words, “Yet I am always with You. You hold me by my right hand. You guide me with Your counsel., and afterward You will take me into glory.
“As for me, it is good to draw near to God. I have made the sovereign Lord my refuge.”
Hey, you. Did you catch that? You can let go now. You are guided. You are held. You are loved. Oh, glory!
